What is Pointillism
Pointillism is a form in which dots of primary-colors
are used to generate secondary colors. It is an offshoot of Impressionism,
and is usually categorized as a form of Post-Impressionism. It
is very similar to Divisionism, except that where Divisionism is
concerned with color theory, Pointillism is more focused on the
specific style of pen dot drawing used to apply colors. The technique relies on the perceptive ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to mix the color spots into a fuller range of tones. These dots are placed in patterns to create an image which is recognizable.
Pointillism was first created by the French artist Georges Seurat in the 1800's.
